It is true that summer is here and worship attendance is down. But this article is not about scolding people for missing church. We know that this time of year requires a lot of mobility for family and recreational activities. That is understandable. But Christian disciples need to find a way to worship God in Jesus name on Sunday no matter where they are or what they are doing. Everyone can do that. However, it may take a little creativity and effort.
Many families attend worship by visiting churches in the places they are traveling. The World Wide Web makes it much easier to find local congregations and their worship times. This can be an exciting and fun experience. When you worship this way please pay careful attention to how you feel and how you are treated when you visit another congregation for worship. This will give you important insights as to how we can better “go, make, baptize, and teach” with visitors attending Heritage. And feel free to bring back suggestions about aspects of the worship you really liked and would like to have us try here at Heritage.
Also as many of you know, all Heritage Bible studies and worship services are simulcast over the internet. We have members not only attend on their computers, but also from tablets, phones, and even smart TVs. You can find the link for the simulcast on our website or reach it directly at Join Us Live Online.
Another idea is to look for convenient opportunities to worship at the places you are staying when you travel. Many campgrounds, resorts, and even hotels now offer Sunday worship as part of their service package. This presents an excellent opportunity for disciples and their families to experience worship in new ways and different groups of people.
“Choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
