Absolutely the Bible is true! It reveals the true story of God’s love for His world and the unique relationship he has designed between himself and the human race. It tells us about the special role and purpose of Jesus Christ, His only son. It proclaims the way God has prevailed over sin and death to bring everlasting life through the gracious gift of faith. This is the truth that Christians are willing to stake their eternity on.
Why is it then that so many today loudly challenge the Bible’s authority? They say that it is too ancient and out of date. But the Bible has been transmitted to us from ancient times with a level of accuracy that far surpasses any other literature from its historical time period. Advancing archeological evidence increasingly proves the accuracy of its words. Those who read and study it find that they are looking in the mirror of their own lives. They find words that wisely guide daily choices and provide comfort and hope. The Bible is true. It has been true for a very long time. It will continue to be true right into eternity.
However, its truth is of little value to those who fail to read it. God has promised to inhabit his Word in the person of the Holy Spirit. He has promised to meet those who gather around the Word seeking his guidance. Yes, our Bible is true! But, it only becomes true for us when we open it to read about God’s plan for our life and our eternity.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (2 Timothy 3:16)
